When I play Skirmish mode against the computer, I can't pause the game by going to the menu. However, I can pause the game when I'm doing a tourney, with no issue. Is this by design, or is this a bug?
Don't know if it's meant to be that way, but I was somewhat confused myself. In "game options" before a skirmish you can set pause to infinite and then you have the option in skirmish.

I think mbdk666 is on the money - single player tournaments are automatically set to have infinite pauses, while the default setting for skirmish is no pauses.
Simply change it in the game options for skirmish.
