"The Oozing Pusbag of Death" Unclean Beast Build

This build is designed to deal massive amounts of AoE and DoT damage, keep enemies close in range, and prevent you from dying while being a complete bastard to your enemy demigods and their armies.

Items and Skills

  • Favor item
    • Amulet of Teleportation
  • Trinket
    • Heart of Life
    • Narmoth's Ring
  • Artifact
    • Girdle of the Giants
    • All Father's Ring (if you can afford it)
  • Helm
    • Theurgist's Cap
  • Armor
    • Hauberk of Life
    • or Platemail of the Crusader (depending on your budget in play)
  • Boots
    • Unbreakable Boots
    • or Journeyman Treads (depending on your budget in play)
  • Gloves
    • Slayer's Wraps
  • Skills
    • Ooze (build up to full)
    • Inner Beast (build up to full)
    • Acclimation
    • Post Mortem (build to full)
    • Plague
    • Diseased Claws (2-3 levels or higher if you can)
    • Enhanced Attributes (build to full if possible)

How to play

Use the Amulet of Teleportation to get in close to the battle soon.  Don't buy any goodies at the shop because you're going to need your gold for the Heart of Life.  Once you level up a bit, you'll start to be able to take on baddies a lot quicker with your Ooze (should be your first skill) and your Inner Beast.

If you get close to dying, use the Amulet of Teleportation to get you back to the health tower.  Once you've reached your 4250 to buy the Heart of Life, get it.  Now you won't need any other consumables.  Get back into the game and start laying waste using your standard attack and your Ooze.  As you earn more gold, teleport back and buy your goodies in the list above.

You should balance your Ooze skill with your health per second with your magic items, as they will balance each other out.  Post Mortem and Plague will be equally important as you progress, as your ooze and your ability to infect everyone you go into hand-to-hand with will create massive levels of damage.  When you get low on health, run away from the battle and use your Heart of Life, and recharge your health.  This build does not rely on mana at all, so you really never have to worry about your manage needing recharging.

Once you reach higher levels, you will find that you will be able to take on very large numbers of enemies and kill multiple demigods quickly.

This build is good with a player who likes to kill a lot of things, especially baddies.  This is a pure army slaughterhouse build, and you are meant to get pummled on by baddies.  Wary players who like to sit back should not use this build.  Also you can take on buildings if you have to, but towers, archer towers, and fortresses will nuke your health quickly if you don't have the support. Health is your main attribute to manage, and fortunately Ooze is great because you don't pay mana for it! Remember to turn it off if you're taking more damage than you like or if your health is low.  And don't be afraid to use your Amulet of Teleportation to get your goodies from the store, or to pay for citadel upgrades if you're flush with cash.

Enjoy the build!  I have enjoyed playing it!  I got more achievements in one skirmish with this than with the other times I've played this assassin.

Good luck, and let me know how The Oozing Pusbag of Death build works for you in the comments below!

Your Unclean Beast has a bag full of kittens?

Or maybe you meant "pusbag".

Thanks... fixed!  I always thought pus was spelled "puss", but I learned something today

shouldn't this be in the strategies forum

No vomit?

Sacralige!

Glad to see people trying new things... I'd go for a Bracelet of Rage over the All Father Ring... Seeing as it's half the price and whenever you got 25k the game is nearly done anyway so that +300 DMG for you and ally DGs around you is just absolute citadel smashingly awesome.

How can you move a blog post to a forum? I'll post a link to this build to the strategies forum so everyone can see...

I find it odd that this is in journals

on Apr 24, 2009

if you use the Impulse client, you can post to your blog.  When you make a post, the only Demigod category you can post under that is meaningful is "Demigod Journals", which is why this post is the way it is.

I find this build suffers from lack of vomit, the stacked damage of spit and ooze is pretty astounding. So why not have it? Disease isn't too bad to screw with people who use HoL, however it's not worth losing spit over.

I find the combination of Girdle of the Giants and Post Mortem w/Life Steal works really well.

So your playing against the AI? If thats the case, I would bet this is why you have found success with this build. Im all for trying new things and Ill test this out tonight, but I seriously doubt it has the same potential as many of the other UB builds I have seen.

Ill test this build, If I think it is worthwhile I will be back to post that I found it so. If not, dont expect another post from me.

Ok, you can stop posting that video on every single thread now.

so in 2v2 not good...  need more direct damage...  however, in large skirmishes, you can really support other demigods while they pound on the other demigods, and kills lots of minions. YMMV

pussbags > pusbags. Always.

Congrats on the funky build! I applaud people who take a Demigod and try to break out of the cookie-cutter templates that everyone else adopts.

You know, specifically because everyone expects UB to be vomiting on them ad nauseam (teehee) is exactly why I went out and made a pure melee build for him, with Spit only at lvl 1 for finishing off fleeing DGs. I'm still tweaking said build, but suffice to say; it doesn't use Ooze, it doesn't use Spit, and it will take down a tank Rook in seconds.

I've started to tweak this build myself...  a variant if you will.  Since I've learned you can use multiple types of the same items at once, it's been fun to get different type of gloves stacked on top of each other with this build. Those crits and extra damage really add up!  Pure melee UB is very nasty when done right.

Stay tuned for another whacked build... I'll let everyone know once I've tested it a bit.
